Where do you carry your stress?

April is Stress Awareness Month

Stress is a normal part of the human experience—but when it starts to feel like a permanent roommate, it may be time to check in.

In my work, and in everyday conversations, I’m often struck by how easily stress becomes part of the background. We carry it, adapt to it, and sometimes don’t fully recognize its impact until it begins to affect how we feel and function day to day.

Where do you carry your stress?

Stress Sometimes Looks Like:

Irritability over the “small things”

Feeling physically exhausted but mentally wired

Difficulty focusing on one task at a time

Signaling “Safety” to Your Body:

Our minds and bodies are deeply connected.

To lower the volume on stress, we need to signal to our nervous system that we are safe.

This can be done through small, consistent actions—maintaining simple routines, limiting mental overload (sometimes that means putting the phone down), and staying connected to supportive people.

Is Your “Alarm” Stuck On? You Might Notice:

The Physical: Headaches, tight shoulders, or digestive discomfort

The Mental: Brain fog or feeling “on edge” even during downtime

The Emotional: Shorter patience, irritability, or disrupted sleep

3 Small Ways to Reset Today:

Micro-pauses

Even 60 seconds of deep breathing (there are so many exercises I can show you!) or a quick stretch can act as a reset for your nervous system. Small resets count.

Digital boundaries

Closing the news tabs or limiting notifications can help reduce the constant sense of urgency and alertness. Constant notifications keep your brain in a state of high alert.

Routine as an anchor

Consistent mealtimes and sleep schedules provide a sense of stability your brain relies on—especially during busy or stressful periods.

Bottom Line...

Stress awareness isn’t about eliminating stress—that’s not realistic.

It’s about building a toolkit to respond to it in a more supportive and sustainable way.

If This Resonates, You’re Not Alone.

If you're feeling overwhelmed and want personalized strategies to manage stress, I'm here to help; let’s navigate this together.

A quick moment of pause...

I went for an incredible massage this weekend—and it reminded me how easy it is to carry stress without even realizing it.

It wasn’t until I slowed down that I noticed just how much tension I had been holding in my neck, shoulders, and back.

Stress has a way of building quietly, especially when we’re busy, focused, and constantly “on.”

It’s a gentle reminder to check in with ourselves.

If this resonates, consider this your invitation to pause—what might your mind or body be asking for?

What helps you slow down and take care of your own well-being?

If this feels like something you’d like support with, you don’t have to navigate alone.

Let's Talk.

P.S. Stress doesn’t always show up loudly—sometimes it’s the quiet tension we carry without noticing. Even a small pause today can go a long way.

A Mindful Moment

Slow down enough to hear what your body is trying to tell you.

A quick note...

I’ll be at the Bergen Women's Health Experience this Thursday, April 23, at The Terrace at Biagio's.

If you’re planning to attend, you’re welcome to stop by and say hello—I’d love to connect.
