Caren is a multi-state Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families facing various service needs throughout the lifecycle. She has been recognized by the American Board of Clinical Social Workers (ABCSW) as a Board Certified Diplomate.


Caren completed her master's in social work at New York University then furthered her education with a second master’s degree in clinical nutrition also at New York University.  She furthered her education and passion for helping people struggling with health/mental health issues by completing a post-graduate certificate program in Health Psychology. Her training path continued with certifications in trauma and grief as well as a specialty in anxiety. She has specialized training in CBT-I (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia) modality that helps people resume healthier sleep patterns, focuses on women’s health issues (trained in perinatal health treatment and therapy and coaching through menopause) and forgiveness therapy.


Caren has been honored as a presenter at conferences in New York City, addressing empowerment and Evidence Based Practices, a speaker at NAMI in San Mateo County and as a facilitator of presentations and mental health-based community conversations focused on engagement and normalizing therapy.


Caren continues to pursue her desire to help people in the community as a volunteer with non-profits. She serves on the Board of Directors (Past President for 5 years) of a mental health community center and fundraises/ walks for charities she is passionate about.


Caren has worked as a therapist and administrator working with children, adolescents, adults and couples and families in a variety of clinical programs. Her program services have included individual and group therapy to those with clinical needs ranging from monthly sessions to long- term locked mental health rehabilitation therapy. In her clinical practice, Caren utilizes evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Psychoeducation, CBT-I, and Solution Oriented modalities to assist clients in their treatment but is also a believer in the strength of supportive therapy. She believes the power of the client-therapist relationship is key to success.
